Hi everyone!!
My family and I moved to the Dublin area in October 2006 from the states. My son, Cooper, is 27 months old and has a repaired cleft palate (June 06). We have met with the Cleft Team @ Temple (Dec 06). We've met with the Cleft Speech Therapist @ Temple (Jan 07) as well. We have been placed on a couple public speech therapists lists and are looking at 10 - 12 months before we get in to see a therapist.
For those of you who have been in my position, I know you feel my pain. At this point I just want to make sure that I am doing everything I possibly can to make sure Cooper gets therapy (eventually). If any of you have any contact info for private speech therapists - and wouldn't mind sharing the information - that would be great!! From my own experience so far, the therapists that I contact have a waiting list so long that they don't even want to put us on their list. I have also found that many therapists don't even list their information on the internet or in the phone book. It's easier to rely on word of mouth or networking with others to locate a therapist.
So this is my (desperate) call for help!! Please let me know where I should be looking. If you have contacts, I would LOVE the info!! I'm living in Enniskerry, south of Dublin, but I would travel/drive just about anywhere.
Thank you sooooo much in advance for any assistance you can offer!! I greatly appreciate it!!
Jill

Hi I am in the same boat as you. I have emailed the cleft coordinator in Temple st. to ask about my sons treatment as he has no upcoming appts. She told me she will pass my message on. It very frustrating sitting around waiting for somebody to ring you about appointments when you can clearly see your child aint a great talker! I would love to get him assessed privatley but cannot find any speech therapist who specialises in clefts Have a pain in my face with Temple st to be honest their information is very vague. Sorry to be so negitive but it annoys me so much. |
Today is a gift, thats why its called the present |
